Bio

Emily Ridgway’s rich, gossamer vocals transport listeners to another world. Both bold and gentle, ethereal yet grounded, Emily’s music takes the new-age genre to a new level.

Singing for Emily has never been a hobby, it is her calling. Her passion for soundtracks started very young. Growing up with a “computer nerd” dad, she was surrounded by video games throughout her childhood. She was first intrigued by the world of video game soundtracks when she played Final Fantasy VIII.  Hearing Nobuo Uematsu’s beautiful compositions opened her eyes to the magic that good music brings to a game.  Her unique upbringing in the Alaskan wilderness has a very clear influence on her music, which has been described as  “mysterious,” “epic,” and with a “sense of longing.”

Emily is classically trained, receiving private vocal instruction from a young age. She received her BA in Vocal Performance at the renowned Lionel Hampton School of Music, under the instruction of distinguished professors including Dr. Chris A. Thompson, award-winning vocalist and musical director, as well as the nationally acclaimed composer and conductor, Daniel Bukvich. Emily was proud to be selected to sing the national anthem at her graduation in 2009.

Her desire to learn more about the recording process, game design, and digital music creation, led her to the world-class Music Technology program at Shoreline Community College in 2015. Emily’s studies have awarded her proficiency in programs including Logic, Unity, FMOD, Native Instruments, mixing, and recording. She is also a current member of the Seattle Symphony Chorale under the direction of Joseph Crnko.
